The Happenings

Well friends! It's been quite awhile since we last posted and many things have happened! Here's a brief synopsis of the last 4 months!

We went on our honeymoon and had a blast, Brock now recognizes Mexico as a proper vacationing spot! We spend 10 beautiful days in the Riviera Maya at an all inclusive resort, Barcelo Maya Palace. It was a wonderful time and the beach, pool and food were all amazing!

I did completed my second clinical in an inpatient rehab hospital in town. It was a good experience, but I'm still pretty sure I want to do orthopedics in outpatient. In August I got the opportunity to go home and visit my family in WA for 2 weeks. It was a great time of reconnecting with my parents and some old friends as well.

Brock had ACL reconstruction surgery on September 9th and is still wearing his knee brace and going through PT for his rehab. The surgery went well but of course he still has pain and is unable to participate in anything too athletic for the next few months.

I am in my third clinical at an outpatient clinic and loving it! I'm learning a lot and really looking forward to using my last 12 week internship that starts in January to learn as much as I can in the outpatient setting.

Lastly Brock is applying to several different schools and programs for grad schools, We're praying for the Lords guidance and provision for our future! Who knows where we'll be in 10 months, I'll be officially done with school and (hopefully) a licenced PT able to practice wherever Brock gets into school!

That's the quick and dirty of our happenings! Hope all is well in your life!

10 miles, Olympics and Future Fun

So as some of you know, Brock and I have been training for a May 1st 10 mile run to prepare us for our honeymoon swimsuit time and also to get us going for our ultimate goal of a half marathon. We'd been doing pretty well going up a mile a week in our long runs and doing at least 2 shorter runs during the week. Our top mileage last week was 7 weeks (longer than Brock had ever done!) and we were proud and prepared to hit the 8 miles for this weekend until...Brock hurt his knee in our sand volleyball game on Sunday. Armed with my knee evaluation packet and limited student PT skills I tried to assess him on Monday. When the swelling and "tight" feeling hadn't gone down by Thursday, I did some more tests and asked my professors. They gave me some probably causes and all of them resulted in the fact that in no way was he running any time soon let alone 10 miles. :( Sad news too cause we were having fun spending that time together. You are probably thinking, he's out, but you're still fine...and while that is true, there is no way I am running more than 3 miles by myself! It is just not fun! So now we're going to start walking instead of running and doing some swimming at the gym and hopefully we'll be able to get back on track in a month or two.

Back before the knee injury, we got the opportunity to go down with several of my classmates and their significant others to San Antonio and play in a day of PT Olympics where all the PT schools in Texas get together and compete in different sports events over the course of the day. We took 2nd place and were the dodgeball champions! And came in 2nd place for softball! Now this is a pretty great feat for our school becuase the other programs actually held try-outs and have year round intermural teams, where we just randomly signed up to have fun. It was a great weekend and we had a lot of fun and got some sun!

This is Brock playing dodgeball

On a fun note, we are now officially less than a month (27 days) from leaving for our honeymoon!!! YAY! We've been slowly collecting supplies (aka new clothes and accessories) and planning our different adventures! We're so excited for it to actually get here!

Another note, I have officially received my clinical placements for this summer and fall and will thankfully be staying here in Dallas! It wasn't looking so great for me staying in Dallas for the summer for awhile so we are very thankful that we will be together for the majority of our first year of marriage instead of spending 7 or more weeks apart. I am very ready to get out into the clinic and put all this head knowledge into practice and actually get some experience with real patients! YAY for practicing PT!

Catching up on crazy times...

We have had some amazing crazy times these past 2.5 months of being married. Now that it's spring break for me, I thought I would add some pictures to give a little synopsis of what we've been doing (besides school and work of course!)

first up...Rock Band night with our friends Randy and Jen. Thanks to my fantastic brother and sister-in-law, we've got the whole set up and have been enjoying the fun times with it!
!

Mac even got involved in the singing!

We also had a great time at a Stars Avs hockey game! Stars won and Brock had to make me breakfast!

Over Valentine's weekend we got record amounts of snow. I had the day off of school and Brock took it off as well. We played for a bit in the snow with Mac (who loves it!)

We then went to Maggianno's for a fantastic Valentine's dinner.
We finished up the weekend with homemade chocolate fondu which was delicious

On one of our slower school weekends, we had 2 other couples over to play our new favorite game- Quelf. An amazing game that is simply ridiculous, it requires that the people playing be willing and ready to make complete fools of themselves and to laugh uncontrollably for the entire time you play! Here are a few pics...

Carrie had to make a snorkel out of kitchen stuff and wear it the rest of the game. Travis had to act like a surely gnome who had just burnt his cookies- which was Brock and my favorite part of the game and left our faces and stomachs hurting long into the night from all the laughing.
I had to build a fort and stay in it til my next turn.

And finally...for spring break we headed down south to Victoria where we met up with Marla and Bob and then drove to Houston for Steve and Courtney's BEAUTIFUL wedding on Friday night. It was like a dream! Straight out of a modern bride magazine...here's a few of us at the wedding.

It's a little dark, but here's Steve and Courtney looking at their lovely cakes.

And lastly...our true Texan weekend in Victoria. Saturday Brock and I took Mac on a run on a newly paved walking trail through Victoria, it was "pretty..." :) Then we helped out at a Golf tournament Bob put on for the Special Olympics- Victoria Shining Stars program. It was awesome! It was a beautiful day on the course and we got to hang out with a bunch of the special olympic atheletes at a hole where they got to putt for the people playing in the tournament. It was such a great day and we had a blast with all the atheletes. After that, we all loaded up the dogs and ourselves and headed out to Bob's land. Mac had a great time running around. We went riding in the truck at night to see what we could see and check out the pig traps and the deer feeders. We got up Sunday morning and went out on the buggy. We saw some deer and a bunch of cows (since it is a cattle ranch!) a bunch of buzzards and pigs. There was a pig caught in one of the traps and Brock got the chance to shoot it. He shot it right in the head the first time! It was his shining man moment! We of course had to take pictures of it! Here's us and the dead pig as well as us at Bob's deer blind.

After that we went to the river and shot at little goard things that we threw into the river. It was so much fun! I shot a handgun once...my ears rang for about a minute. Then we got to shoot the other gun. It was so much fun!
Don't worry on that last one...there were no clips and the guns weren't loaded :)
After the river, we headed back to Marla's to wash up and go out for some great Mexican food and then played Quelf. We unfortunately had to head out early Monday morning and they had to go back to work but we had such a great fun filled weekend! We can't wait to go back!

We've had an incredible past 2 months and can't wait for the next several! We're currently planning and looking forward to our honeymoon coming up in May at the Barcelo Maya Palace. ( I tried doing a hyper link but it wouldn't cooperate...) Getting ready for our 10 mile run on May 1 and finishing up school (last big academic semester!). Hope you enjoyed the pictures and the update!

Just thought I would throw in this last picture of Mac :) He looks like an alien!

Up coming spring break plans

Spring Break is now upon me!! Thank you LORD! We're going to fill this weekend with friends! Heading down to Houston and Victoria for a friends wedding and then just spending good quality time with Marla and Bob! I'm so looking forward to it! Other than that it's going to be low key. Cleaning the apartment, working out, and just spending good quality time with each other in the evenings! We have many updates to put up, including hilarious pictures from our new favorite game...Quelf and our homemade pizza night pics. Next week I will have time to post all of them so stay tuned and enjoy the (hopefully) sunshine!

Hopefully it works! We can't wait for you all to see this amazing slide show/video our photographer put together! She even has some actual video clips in it that make it really special! Hope you all enjoy it as much as we do!

Wedding Video and Snow day!

So I was going to try and upload the slideshow/video that our photographer made for us, but I can't figure out how to do it :(  Anyone have any ideas?  Married life is going well for us!  We're loving not having to go home and doing couple things together!  We're getting more involved in our Church group and are also starting a married small group soon!  I am being quite the slacker with school but am going to have to buckle down quite soon becuase tests are a comin!  Brock is liking work and learning new fun sciency things!

We had a great time with the freak Dallas snow storm! Pictures to come! We had friends over to play Rock Band when it just kept coming down Thursday night and Friday there were over 6 inches (a huge amount for Dallas!) so we got to play with Mac in the snow a little bit and then spend the rest of the day hanging out at home watching movies and napping! It was GREAT!  Although a covered parking structure in our apartment did fall...not so great...but luckily no cars were damaged!

That's all for now! If you have any ideas on how to get the video uploaded let us know! Love you all and miss you!
